Fertilizers
We use a liquid fertilizer called Schultz 10-15-10 Plant food, although most any similar fertilizer will work. The directions on the bottle tell us to use 7 drops of fertilizer per quart. However, since we are working with seedlings, we only use 50% of this amount, or about 3 to 4 drops. If the seedlings start to look yellow and thin, add some fertilizer. We apply the fertilizer once a week at most, which we have found to be adequate. If your plants grow too fast and look spindly, over-fertilizing can be the culprit, which can also contribute to the damping off fungus. (see Damping Off section)
