Bills Smoked Butt and Cabbage Soup

1 c. diced onion
1 c. diced carrots
1 c. diced celery
2 c. diced peeled potatoes
2 c. diced smoked butt
3 tbsp. margarine
1 tsp. minced garlic
1 tsp. cyan pepper
2 tsps. seasoning salt
1 tbsp. beef soup base
1 tbsp. chicken soup base
1 head of green cabbage, halved and cut into thin strips
1 can (16 oz) can whole peeled tomatoes, crushed
1 c. macaroni noodles
1 gallon water |
In large pot, saute onions, carrots and celery in margarine over medium
heat. Add garlic, pepper and seasoning salt, stirring well.
Add 1 gallon of water and all other ingredients. Bring to a boil and simmer
for 35 minutes. Add noodles. Cook an additional 5 minutes. Makes 10 to 12
servings. |
