Instructions:
1) Take the closet pole and measure 6 from one end of the pole, mark with a pencil. Cut off the 6 piece of wood with a saw. Smooth any rough edges with sandpaper.
2) Measure 1 1/4 from one end of pole and mark with a pencil. Drill a shallow hole the diameter of the tapered end of the wooden plug.
3) Paint the pole white. Paint the heart black. Paint the plug orange. Allow all pieces to dry thoroughly.
4) Paint the eyes and buttons on the snowman with black paint. Add a white highlight to the eyes and buttons if desired. To create the blush on the snowman, dip a round stencil brush into red paint and than dab off excess paint onto a paper towel. Dab onto the face. Use a marker to create the mouth. With wood glue, glue orange plug into drilled hole. See illustration A.

5) To make hat, cut a piece of fleece 4 x 6. Allowing for a 1/4 seam, glue or stitch together short ends of fleece as shown in illustration B. With needle and thread make a running stitch along the edge. Gather up the edge by pulling on the ends of the thread. Tie the threads together into a knot.
6) Turn hat inside out. To create the band on the hat, fold the other end of hat a 3/8 and than a 1/2. See illustration C. Check to see if the hat fits on the top of the snowman. Secure the band with hot glue or a few stitches along the back seam of the hat. Glue hat onto snowman. Glue pom pom on top of hat with hot glue.
7) For the feet, glue the black wooden heart onto the other end of the pole with wood glue or hot glue. Position the lobes of the heart toward the front of the snowman. Tie the ribbon or plaid fabric onto the snowmans neck. Refer to photo at top of page.
