Instructions:
Cut each section of the birdhouse, with the grain running as indicated, using drawings as a guide. Do not drill any holes at first, simply fitting the parts together and understanding how the screws attach the various sections together. Remember that the top slops downwards to drain off the rain.

Sand all sections, especially the edges, until smooth. Sand the edge of the top section that attaches to the back at a slight angle to make a good fit. Feel free to vary the location of the screw holes so they line-up with each of the other pieces. When you are sure the screw holes are aligned properly, drill the screw holes and affix sections together. Okay to use stainless steel or brass screws if you like. Do not use glue and do not paint, stain or weatherproof (Thompsons water seal) the birdhouse, or the birds wont use it. Simply leave it natural and as is.
Mount the birdhouse in a location away from the wind, hot sun and open areas, as Robins are afraid of predators such as Ravens and Crows. The Robins seems to like it next to a downspout and under an overhang. Avoid a closed corner area as the winds can be violent in these areas and the Robins wont like that. If you use regular screws, they can rust and stain your siding, so use stainless steel or brass screws if you like. After birdhouse is mounted, wash it with water (dont use soap or chemicals) to remove your scent and spray it with water every so often to weather it and to continue to remove your scent. Remove the nests during fall using a large putty knife and throw them in the trash, as the birds soil the nest and this can cause disease. Clean birdhouse with fresh water and nylon brush, rinsing several times. Morning doves also seem to like this nest.
