Using Milk Bottles To Fill Up Space In Large Pots

Plastic Milk Jugs In Pots

Materials Needed:

Large pots
Clean empty milk bottles
Potting mix

Instructions:

1) Make holes in bottom of pots if needed for drainage.

2) Place one or two milk bottles on bottom of pots. Fill plastic pot with potting mix about 2 inches below lip of pot.

The bottles will help with drainage; you will use less soil and lighten the weight of the pots.

Other methods: Styrofoam packing pieces poured into a large plastic garbage bag and tied off can be used to fill the bottom half of the pot. Or taking a smaller pot or bucket and placing it upside down on the bottom of a large pot will work too.
