Back Saver Garden Planter
The bulb hound® is ideal for making holes in the garden soil for planting potted plants, bulbs and some seeds. It can be used for either making holes right in the soil or using our method of planting plants using black plastic.
We use the garden planter for planting tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, squashes, pumpkins, corn, cabbages, broccoli, cauliflower and flowering bulbs

Instructions:
1) Begin by having the garden hoses and black plastic laid out on top of the garden. See Building Our Veggie Garden

2) First determine where your plants will be planted in your garden. Put garden planter on top of the plastic. Step down and wiggle the planter through the plastic and into the ground. If the garden planter will not cut into the plastic than you will need to first cut the holes with a scissors. Pull the garden planter with the soil out of the hole. Dump the soil into a bucket by squeezing the handle. Continue making holes or begin planting your plants.
3) Work fertilizer into the hole. If the soil is dry, fill the hole with water. If using plants in peat pots, trim the lip on the peat pot to the soil level in the pot. Place the plant into the hole so that the top of the soil in the pot is at the same level as the soil around the hole. If needed, add more soil into the bottom of the hole to achieve the proper height for the pot. With a trowel or your hands, scoop up some of the soil from the bucket and fill in the soil around the plant. Lightly press soil around the plant. To identify the plant, insert a plant marker into the soil next to the plant.
