Slip knot

Tie yarn onto ring.

Single crochet

A) Insert hook into ring, yarn over and draw yarn through so that there are two loops on the hook.

B) Yarn over, draw yarn through both loops on the hook.

Repeat 22 times around ring.

Work over loose end of yarn as you go along.

Slip stitch

Insert the hook into the top first chain, yarn over, draw yarn through chain loop and loop on hook.

Do not turn work over.

Chain 5

Yarn over pull through loop on hook.

Make 5 chains.

Treble crochet

A) Wind yarn twice around hook and insert hook into back loop of next single crochet on ring.

(Photo at left also shows one treble crochet completed)

B) Yarn over, draw yarn through the first 2 loops on the hook.

Repeat (B) 2 more times to the remaining loops on hook.

Chain one.

Repeat steps for treble crochet and chain 1 around ring.

Slip stitch

Insert the hook into the third chain on the beginning chain 5, yarn over, draw yarn through third chain loop and loop on hook.

Do not turn work over.

Single crochet

Insert hook into chain 1 space, yarn over and draw yarn through so that there are two loops on the hook.

Yarn over, draw yarn through both loops on the hook.

Chain 3

Yarn over pull through loop on hook.

Make 3 chains.

Repeat single crochet and chain 3 around (as shown).

Finish off

Insert the hook into the first chain on the first chain 3, yarn over, draw yarn through chain loop and loop on hook.

Cut off several inches. With a large needle sew end of yarn between crochet stitches, hiding them as you go along.
